I believe in the saying that you teach what you most need to learn and today I'm experiencing it first hand. Last night I stayed up late watching a movie and then had a hard time sleeping... Today I'm wrecked!Truth is, I have a sensitive energy system. I have since I was a little girl and could feel the energy of the plants lining the streets as I walked to school in the morning.
I was so sensitive to the energy of others that I ate to buffer myself. I kept a solid padding of "chubby" (I much prefer that word to fat:) on my body as a way to lower my vibration so that I would feel less.
Here's how to know if you have a sensitive energy system:
- You "pick up" on the mood of others and intuitively try to fix it.
- You are highly affected by changes in your routine, such as not getting enough sleep, eating too much sugar, etc.
- You sometimes avoid new experiences because the energy may be overwhelming.
- You get over-stimulated by big crowds, extended periods of loud noise, smells, chaos, etc.
- Others tell you to "relax" or "lighten up," because they observe you getting tense or shutting down from over-stimulation.
This is a brief list of some of the indications of energy sensitivity. I've found that building strong internal boundaries (my own psychic space that I'm able to keep safe by staying connected to my breath and not taking on other's issues) has helped a lot, as does self care, which I failed at miserably last night!

I definitely have a sensitive energy system, so I understand what you are saying completely! It certainly requires absolute honesty with yourself and others to be able to create boundaries that are healthy and stable. I think its very interesting how you explain the extra "solid padding of chubby" as a buffer from vibrations--it makes perfect sense and it is probably why many people have a troubled relationship to food and their bodies. As always, thanks for your insight and authenticity!!

Hi Melissa! Good to see your beautiful face:) This sensitivity is a double edged sword no?
Hugs,

I believe we all start out with this 'sensitive" energy system...this is who we all are when we are our authentic selves...(if we really think about it most people are doing something to "buffer" themselves)...its only those living in an authentic space that do not have to buffer any longer.
That said, being authentic is a practiced skill and as you know, it takes practice. You've been practicing for a while now...mabye that is why that little slip of not sleeping affected you so much. It was enough for you. And reminded you of how much you enjoy being YOU!
:) xoxo

Good point Gabi. Most of us are born sensitive. I do think there's a continuum there, with some people being more naturally buffered. But,sensitivity brings its own set of gifts!

Ha! All this time I thought I had ADD! :) As far back as I can recall being a child, I 'knew' that I was different from many, many people. I had no clue until I got older and my empathy (energy) about took me out of this game of life it was so overwhelming. Took me a while to learn how to harness it however, I have and life is far more pleasureable and worthwhile albeit, a continual challenge for me to practice being in the moment (especially in crowds :)
In Peace,
Caitlin
