A Lesson in Letting Go
I just noticed a smiley face sticker on my phone speaker button... Today is Anna's fifth grade end of the year party. It is not only the end of the school year but the end of an era, as she is headed to middle school next year.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't terrified. Well, terrified might be too strong of a word, but I am experiencing a plethora of emotions that range from nervousness to excitement. She's getting into that preteen stage where friends are a life line and everything is laced with the thrill of newness.

As my precious baby girl catches up to me in height, I find myself straddled between wanting to stop time while enjoying the ride of growing up with her all over again.

Letting go is tricky. We get comfortable and would sometimes rather stay put than move on. It's just another lesson in transformation and I'm hoping to be graceful about it as my child blossoms into a beautiful young woman.

Be an Oasis
Right now I'm preparing to be a guest on Jonathon Fogel's Healthy Wellness radio show in Minnesota. They are featuring The Energy Cure and want to explore ways to manage our personal energy.

As of late, my passion has been centered around Portals of Peace - my most recent baby - which results in very little thought about anything else, but reviewing The Energy Cure has reminded me how we can make profound changes in our lives by simply applying the concepts of personal energy management. There are basically three levels of energy management.

The first level is proactive - Adopting the rituals that feed us on a daily basis. We all know what they are, but are we doing them? My meditation practice, while still alive and well, needs to be practiced more fully, more deeply, and I'm thankful for this reminder:)

Second, we need to make the moment by moment choices that preserve our energy. What are my thoughts doing to my energy right now? How is this person affecting my energy? What will this food do to my energy? Remember, everything we do either drains or nourishes us!
Finally, we need to transform any draining patterns (behaviors that provide an immediate boost, but leave us more depleted than we started) that keep us from being our best and brightest. These patterns range from relationship conflicts to procrastination regarding self-care and personal growth.
Developing an energy management frame of mind is so simple and practical, yet the results are profound. And in this world of GO GO GO, it's good to remember that our light and energy feeds us first, but then overflows into the world around us - an oasis in the desert.

Be an oasis!!!

Good Morning!
It's a beautiful morning here in Scottsdale. It's probably about 75 degrees and breezy. As promised, I've been spending more time "in the silence." Meditating, contemplating, energizing. I feel much better.

Yesterday in yoga I had an interesting experience. It felt like everything in my past was dissolving as I stepped into a new river of life. I've heard that you can have a death/rebirth experience within a lifetime, but I'm not sure if that's what's happening or if I'm just releasing more of what isn't me.

My dear friend and blog buddy just came off 10 days of the Master Cleanser fast. I too continue to fast, but for me it works best to do one day a week. (As a Libra, balance is supreme;). No marathon runs, 10 day fasts or anything extreme for this girl! Don't get me wrong Gabster - you are clearly the bomb!!

I believe that fasting is helping me to release a layer of fear that my spiritual practice alone has not enabled me to do. I've often heard from people on spiritual journeys that the physical is the last level of purification. For me that has definitely been the case.

What becomes more clear each day is that each of us has a unique spiritual path and following our own guidance is the quickest way to inner peace and enlightenment.

This blog post is more about staying connected than anything else, so once again, Good Morning!!! Enjoy your weekend and the week to come, and remember to take time to tune into your inner voice.
